Rev. Seth D. Jones is father to daughter, Rhiannon, who is 21 years old; a husband to his wife Kate 26 years and an ordained minister for 10 years. Seth was called to the ministry when he was 16 years old, after he was baptized on the hill behind his parents’ home in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Seth followed a circuitous path that has led him to Rockland Congregational Church. After graduating from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, Seth attended United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities and received an M.A. in Religious Studies and lost his faith. He studied Tai Chi Chuan, a Chinese martial art and meditation practice, and has taught it for almost 30 years. Seth worked in a variety of positions in the financial industry. After crashing the email servers for a major corporation, working in mortgages before the big housing crash, and going broke trying to sell financial products, Seth returned to the Christian faith. The Jones family joined Colonial Church of Edina, Minnesota in 2002 and, under the guidance and care of a great many people there, Seth remembered his call to ministry. He attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota and received his M. Div in May of 2008 and was ordained at Colonial Church of Edina on June 15, 2008. Before serving in Maine, the Lord sent the Jones family to Montana, where he served Mt. Republic Chapel of Peace, an interdenominational church that serves Yellowstone Park and the Beartooth valley.
